This week I worked on my main legacy project or article about the SAT's. Last week I worked on it as well but this week I added more details and refined my work. I wanted to complete the project and be proud of each page, making the 10 pages I wrote about the SAT look like an article was my main concern as well as coming up with all of my topics to write about. I was able to explain my main topics in more detail this week, focusing on connecting the data I got from researching before to connecting it back to my points. Some problems I encountered was having enough data to fill out all of the pages but I went back and did more research to be able to do that even though it took me some extra time. But overall I finished my project and am proud of my work that highlights and explains what the SAT is and the companies and students associated with it. My goals for this week were completed fully and I can work on something different next week. I want to finish my part 1 of my project next week which is due Wednesday as well as part 2 due Friday.

This week I continued working on my magazine/article project about how studying affects SAT scores and what CollegeBoard is really assessing and concluding my results. I included topics like what the test is really assessing, the impact household income has, the average scores, and my own scores. I had to find extra data to back up my claims for this article. I wasn't able to finish as I still have to revise my whole article and finish the summary section. I used a lot of charts to support the conclusions I was writing about and it took me a while to find the right charts for each topic. My goals for this week was to create the SAT article so I can do the questions for it next week but I didn't finish. I will have to continue with my project at the beginning of next week and work on the questions on Thursday and Friday so it will be finished for Friday. Next week I finish the magazine pages with my research and finish the questions about my project (the presentation).
This week was a short week and I decided to work on my article so I have something to start from after winter break. I used the data I collected last week and created the first two pages. They are definitely not perfect because I have to still edit the pages. It was hard to come up with the perfect format for it to look like a real article. Next time I start again I will add my name to it as well to make it look like a real article. Some other problems I encountered was choosing a color scheme because there are just so many! But overall I am excited to continue with my project after break. I thankfully accomplished what I set put to do last week. After Christmas break I will finish my article with the 5 points I brainstormed as my subtitles to work on and will have a lengthy article. This week I worked felting. I haven't done this in a while so it took me longer than usual to be able to create the base of my new project. I want to create a silly cartoon bunny I found online and so I felted the base of the body today. It doesn't look like a lot of work but in order to make a dense and packed felted shape you have to use only one needle at a time. It took me 3 hours to felt each part to pack it down. I usually listen to a podcast while doing this and the result is worth it. Some problems I encountered was I pricked myself multiple times with the sharp needle and that didn't feel too good. But overall I am excited to finish this cute little animal next week so that I can display it, I haven't decided wether I want to gift it or sell it yet but I will decide later. My goals for this week were completed in the sense that I worked on felting but I still haven't finished my bunny because it's taking me longer than usual. I want to finish my felting project next week and work on my article/magazine next week as well to get a secure base of work done before Christmas break. This week I worked on researching for my magazine project about how studying affects SAT scores and what CollegeBoard is really assessing. I went into depth looking around different websites including CollegeBoard to find data and statistics about this. I also found articles where they described how studying affects your score and the average scores. Last week I had my SAT's and I was super anxious, since it was my first time I don't even know what score to expect but I am getting it on December 20th. I will be able to compare it to my PSAT score in 10th grade where I hadn't studied at all and my practice scores before the test. I will also most likely take another test in March to try to increase my score further. My goals for this week was to do research about the SAT for my project and I was able to finish that. I wasn't able to start my felting since I was more interested on the SAT this week after the test I took. Next week I will start the actual magazine pages with my research and do some felting. This week I worked on a lot of math SAT timed sections as well as the English SAT essay. I used the CollegeBoard textbook to be able to prepare as accurately as I can because the test it by CollegeBoard. This week I did pretty well on the math section and hopefully I am able to recreate it on the actual test. There were still some mistakes that I am making but they were all silly ones because I know all of the material. For the test this Saturday I just have to focus on accuracy, not rushing, and not skipping around the answers because those are some of my main problems. This is my first test anyway and I am staying hopeful that I will do well on it. I went to my math tutor and he told me to go back and review my answers for 1-10 after doing them because they are the easies and it'll help since when you start the math section you might still be distracted and focused on the English section. My goals for this week was to complete a full section and English section and I was able to finish that. I wasn't able to start my magazine project since I was focused on preparing fir the SAT on Saturday this week. Next week I will start something new like the magazine or felting since I hadn't worked on it this week. This week I worked on some math SAT sections. I worked on a new SAT section I found online that is supposed to be very similar to the test. This week I got a 710 on the math section. I made 5 mistakes overall which is a small improvement. After looking at my mistakes, most of them were silly and shouldn't have been made. Just paying more attention to the questions and not panicking will help me avoid those mistakes next time. I ended up going to ,y math tutor this week and he helped me with a couple formulas I had to review. I decided to work on more math sections this week because my test is in two weeks but next week I will be working on both in sections. My goals for this week was to complete a full section and I was able to finish that. I also wanted to work on felting but recently with the SAT coming up I haven't found the motivation to do hat and would rather work on the SAT to build up my confidence. So in a sense I wasn't able to do my goal for this week but I am going to switch it up. Since it is the beginning of the second term I would also like to start working on my magazine project and researching some studies found before on what the SAT is and what it is looking for from people taking the test. This week I worked on more English SAT sections. I worked on the new English sections from the Kaplan book I got and used the skills I learned from last week to do them. This week I noticed it was easier for me to do the reading sections as I focused more on the questions and the key words in them. I made 4 less mistakes than the week before! I also focused on the English in another tutoring session with an English SAT tutor to go over the rules to better my score. This week we went over new sections together to see what my thought process is. Apparently most of my mistakes come from rushing and being too impatient as well as more of a psychological fear of the test. I had my session with my tutor Mr.Sutner for an hour and a half again and I think I made a lot of progress this week with him. I also learned from him that I was stuf=dying on sections on my own in the wrong way. Instead of doing full tests you're supposed to do just 5 questions every couple of days as repetition and as to not get tired. My goals for this week was to complete a full section and I was able to finish that. I focused so much on my SAT this week that I didn't get to the felting and I would like to make something cute and fury next week. This week I worked on more SAT sections. I decided to finally check in with my progress and got a score of 1360 overall. I got 700 on the math section and 660 on the English section. This is a great improvement since the first time since the summer I got 650 on my math section and 610 on my English section. Thats exactly 50 points improvement for both sections! When timing myself this week for the full sections I was too close on time again but I am still working on fixing that. I also focused on the English section more and was even able to schedule a tutoring session with an English SAT tutor to go over the rules to better my score. I had my session with my tutor Mr.Sutner for an hour and a half and we were able to go over the mistakes I made in my competed sections. Hopefully my next test is an improvement after the extensive review with him. My goals for this week was to complete a full timed section and I was able to finish that. The only thing is the rest of my felting supplies still haven't come so I wasn't able to make anything this week so I focused on SAT things. I would like to do another full SAT section next week and compare my score, I would also like to hopefully start felting. This week I worked on more practice with the math SAT section, both the calculator and non-calculator parts. This week I noticed improvement in my score a less amount of mistakes in the sections I completed. I also received some of the new felt I ordered online and had to organize it and prepare it. This week I learned some new skills for trigonometry when doing the math sections because I had some trouble with it and made my mistakes on that topic. I have been struggling with finishing g the sections in the provided time limit. I always go over 2 or three minutes. I'm thinking that maybe I need to change up my strategy for some of the problems to be able to finish them sooner and finish within the time limit of 25 or 55 minutes. I have discovered that I need to work on reading the problems more carefully because some mistakes come from not understanding the problem fully and answering the wrong meaning. My goal was to finish up most of my practice on the math sections this week and I succeeded, next week I will move on to doing more of the English sections. I am half way through the book and that is a good sign of my progress. Next week I will also focus more on my felting project, last week I decided I will make a fox and now that some of my supplies for it came in Friday I can continue making it and not just the base of it (the body of the fox). |
